It is time to peek back at some posts over the week….I was introduced to kids treadmills at Cranky Fitness. Yup true story, they now have treadmills for the kids! My first response was how about they get their behinds outside and play! Oh yea I tried that with my kids, always a battle,
sigh. So what motivates the child to exercise on a treadmill?

In my house
TOYS and/or
MONEY would motivate my kids, bad example daddy I know! Or, If I had a treadmill at home, my kid was a toddler and wanted to copy me it would be kinda fun. Take a look for yourself –>

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThanks for once-again expanding my horizons Mark..I already checked out HFCS–good point with that there. The commercials make it seem so innocent, but you can never really defend that stuff in my book..good stuff LiveWell360!
I’ll be back to read up the rest!

I must go read that Obesity article. I have a new poll on my blog regarding the influence or genetics vs lifestyle on obesity – very interesting comments so far…
Thanks Ill take a look
Treadmills and ellipticals for kids? Yikes! Although, I think that my 5 yr old would probably get a kick out of working out with mom and dad at the gym.
@cathy, What will they think of next? ๐

When working in academia I worked with a professor that did obesity research with children, specifically the effects of weight training on weight loss and self esteem.
They had a whole lab full of kid-sized weight machines. It was like a mini-gym. Very cool!
Thanks for the links!

Wow, these look like some awesome links to check out! Thanks Mark for putting this list together, there looks to be a wealth of information.
Great links, thank you! There’s so much to learn.
Thanks for all the links to the interesting articles. I will definitely check them out.
Wow, treadmills for kids huh? I suppose that works for tiring them out too.
Thanks for the link for shin splints! “Ice the front stretch the back”
Appreciated the Shin Splints link – it at least showed I’m doing the right things!
Hey Mark – You have a great blog too! Glad to have found it. ๐ I have to say that I am pretty surprised to hear that there are treadmills for kids… bizarre. I guess my first thought is to get them outside to play as well! What ever happened to good old fashioned fun and creativity outside? I don’t even have an x-box or any video games for my two kids… and the funny thing is, they don’t even care! This was an awesome post. Thanks!
Neat links. Treadmills for kids-interesting. My girls would think they were neat-then quickly loose interest in favor of playing outside.
I learn something new everyday. Treadmill’s and Elliptical s for kids? A very wild concept.
I do have to say I’m initially saddened by it.
I can remember being a kid, and I didn’t know how to stay in the house??
MY how things have changed.
The corn syrup post was interesting. I am sick that the formula that I give my daughter is 42.6% corn syrup solids. Sadly, it is the only formula that she can digest and I can’t nurse anymore. Yuck.
Great links. Those hfcs commercials make me laugh every time I see them.
Thanks for the link on shin splints!! I seem to suffer from them any time I start a new, rigorous activity. ๐ I’m quite familiar with that icing routine!!
Hey thanks for putting a link to my blog in your post! I really enjoy reading your blog!
Everytime I see those HFCS commercials I have to laugh to myself…do they actually think that will change peoples minds??
