The last 30 days my fitness routine has been lacking a little something… the BURN! My body was so used to the high intense Zone 3 and 4 workouts that Boot Camp would bring. Sahar you can relate to this! I think it is time to Get the Burn on Again!
Here is my challenge. Do the following 6 exercises in a row, no break in between:(optional-I like to do a hard 1-2 mile run prior)
1. 30 squats
2. 15 push ups
3. 30 second wall sit
4. 25 jumping jacks
5. 30 second plank
6. 15 Burpees
Take a 1 minute break and repeat it 2 times!
modify if necessary!
If you are looking at revving up your metabolism this will do the trick! Will you join me?

This seems like a great routine.
I would join you but I’m in the middle of a mad love affair with my Kettlebell. I just got it as a Christmas gift so we’re still on our honeymoon. π
Yes, I can totally relate! Our Boot Camp class ended in October so I’ve been doing other things but have to admit, I have not been getting my booty kicked like I did in BC.
I will do the challenge, but NO BURPEES. No way. NOT. GOING. TO. DO. THEM.

I’m sorry, but I laugh everytime I read ‘do 10 burpees’. It’s like ‘belch the entire alphabet’. Which my daughter can do, by the way. (Oh, where did I go wrong?!) However, I am back to running. 5.5 miles in the last two days.
Yep I’m joining you in this one. Sometimes these quick intense workouts are just EXACTLY what I need to get me going, thanks for it!
I miss boot camp:(
Count me in!
Burn Baby Burn!!
This looks like a great routine. The only problem I have with it is the exercises which require jumping. I live in an apartment, and in the past when I’ve done exercise which require jumping, my neighbor below me thinks there’s an earthquake. I think I’ll to wait till there’s good weather, and then do them outside. π

Mark you’re a gem! I’ve been trying to find the correct name for this certain exercise but no one knew what I was talking about…and low and behold it’s the BURPEE!! HA! I’m so grateful for your blog! Thank you!! (And GREAT line of exercises — you’ll definitely feel your heart beating in your throat after these!!)
@Loni, Let me know when the honeymoon is over! Great job BTW!
@FatFighterTV, Ok…deal! I know those Burpees are brutal! π
@Urban Panther, What a cool daughter! 5.5 miles? Fantastic!
@Sagan, the intensity adds so much result! π
@Tigerlilly, Awesome!
@Dave, Probably a safe idea….we will put a workout in next week with less bouncing. Thanks for your feedback!
@Amy, Oh yes the infamous Burpee! Deadly yet effective! π
I don’t miss boot camp!
Wow. You are determined to kick our butts, huh? I will do what I can and let you know how it goes!
Well…I’m seeing this right before bed – so morning it will be for this! I’m sure it’ll also help to really wake me up, as well. I’m not sure if a “thank you” seems quite appropriate!!
Mark, I’ve been working out consistently for four weeks now, but have yet to see any real progress on the scale (only two pounds lost) is that normal? Or do I need to be stricter with my diet?
I’m going to have to modify… I can probably only do one of each! It’s hard when you’re just starting out!
You guys are warriors! Way to go!!
@POD,A love hate?
@Diana, you will do great!
@Lance, Go Lance!
@Suzanne, 2lbs is great, don’t get discouraged…how are the clothes fitting? What does your routine consist of?
@Hanlie, That is fantastic!
@Dr. J, You are a warrior my friend! π
Love the quote! A day late, but I’m totally all over that workout! Thanks Mark!
Lol, my fitness routine has been lacking both routine and fitness for the last month. This looks like a great way to get back into working out now that all the craziness of the holidays is over.
I am so in and I challenged everyone on my blog too!!! THANKS M! I am doing it tonight!
I dont know whether to bless you or curse you! That workout rocked this morning. I did it after a 30 min (2 mile) run and it had me shaking by my last Burpee!!
Definitley a keeper in my books!
Love that quote at the end!
Oh no, I’m feeling tire now. My muscles feeling the stretch!
Put me down as giving it a try Mark
@Rupal, Awesome!
@Anya, A good start indeed! π
@bobbi, Good for you! π
@Tigerlilly, those Burpees are brutal…great job!
@Blake, thanks Blake!
@Fruity, π
@Tom Rooney, Way to go Tom!
Yep! I felt the burn. I could only do 1 mile though instead of 2 and I cheated towards the third set, I rested for 1:30 instead of 1 π
Love the “Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe dedicated.â€Β BRILLIANT.
I’ll use that the next time someone comments on my food journaling.
Thank-you!
Yes that will sure bring on the burn!
my metabolism needs some revving up for sure after the holidays. Laziness just doesn’t cut it :)!!
Good challenge, don’t think i’ll do the run (i only run if the building i’m in is on fire), but will definitely do the rest of the challenge….maybe with a bit of rest in between, too. thanks for the motivation!
Great challenge! I may have to try this one. I just made a comment about obsession regarding health and exercise on another blog. I guess I’m one of the lazy ones. π I think it is just different life experiences. π
Have you tried hitting a tire with a sledgehammer? Dragging a tire up hill? Picking a 80lb sandbag over your head and slamming it into the ground? I’ve found those to provide a great burn. π
Oh, I definitely need to get back on the wagon. I like these short burst workouts! Thanks for posting.
Happy New Year Mark! I’m back into the swing of things. Hope 2009 brings us both health and happiness – with a few less pounds around my waist! π
@chris, You did great!
@butterfly,I like it in this context also!
@Tipper,Yes it will!
@Annette,Time to rev it up!
@Juicebox.mom, Great idea!
@Lori, It depends on the situation! π
@John, Now THAT is a workout! AWESOME!
@Jolene,Thank you!
@DCWatts,Happy New Year!
i’m feeling the burn right now. just got finished exercising with my personal trainer via the wii. don’t know if you tried it yet but it’s no joke. i’m so out of shape, but a few more times of this and what you listed above, i’ll be okay by july.
Ouch! What a nice little burn that will be!! Thanks for sharing this quick workout Mark–it’s a nice one to add on those days when time is limited.
Nice post. I just glanced through it. Maybe I can really read it later
Fantastic web site, you have created valuable user content, the internet needs more quality sites like this one.
A fit and healthy body can make the difference in our lives.
I have a weight training routine when it comes to burning fat:
* I triple-set with unrelated muscle groups
* I used this as an opportunity to add in some exercises I usually don’t do (this ads some fun to the workout)
* It’s a 4-day a week program, each day different
* While each one is full body, I do emphasize slightly different muscle groups on each day
* I still include my running – after all, I’m training for a marathon!

High intensity short duration workouts like this are the best for burning fat. I love bodyweight training, you can do it at home and you can really focus on different fitness elements such as endurance and speed.
