I have a challenge for you today. Have you tried Ladder Push ups?
First see: How to do a Proper Push-Up
The challenge: Start with 1 pushup take a 5 second break holding in the up position…. do 2 pushups , take a 5 second break…. now do 3 pushups take a 5 second break, do this all the way up to 10* and back down to 1. Try starting out on your feet and hands, switching to your knees once/if you lose form. You might also want to increase your break in between to 10 seconds. When you are complete you will have completed 110 pushups!
……..You could also start with the ladder pushups at an incline on a chair, table etc. <—-Incline push up

@MizFit, I am in! π

Another pushup challenge – I like it! This one sounds pretty cool in that you really do a lot of pushups (110!) and you biggest set is only 10 reps!
@MizFit – Sign me up for the ass-sitting challenge — I’m pretty sure I can compete at this one!!
———————————————-
@MizFit, Let’s do it! π
-Mark
Hmmmmmm I might have to wait on this ROFLMAO!
———————————–
@Marcy, Not even a 3 ladder? π
-Mark
My arms are so weak, so I know I need to work on pushups. (Although MizFit’s challenge I could actually probably complete!) Maybe with stronger arms I’ll be able to hit a golf ball farther … one can always hope.
@Sherre, I like the Miz challenge as well! π

Ok Mark, I will take yo up on your challenge today. Have you tried doing a set of foot stomps between sets of push-ups? That is what I typically do and your shoulders burn like a ……..
@Kat – Sassy Irish Lassie, Yes! Those are a burner! Good one π
-Mark
I am in too!
(but what are foot stomps?)

@workout mommy, kats response below… Thanks!

I love pushups, but have never done ladders with them..will have to try prolly Friday. Cool!

@LindaM, Give them a try…good stuff! π

We were doing something similar to this last night in my boot camp class – I am definitely sore this morning!
@FatFighter, You gotta love Boot Camp! π
-Mark
I’ll try it. Tomorrow π

@tfh, good deal! π
-Mark
Ok, here is the skinny on the foot stomp. I do them between sets of push ups. You start in a plank position. Then you lift one foot at a timekeeping your leg straight. Only lift your foot 1-2 inches. I do mine to the beat of music which seems to help distract me from the burning sensation – ha ha Alternate between your push ups and foot stomps and you will quickly see (or at least feel) results!
@Kat, Very good! Thanks for the feedback. π
-Mark
I’ll give it a shot!

@Mama Zen, π

-Mark
OUCH…but will give it a try..i’m still working on my 100-pushup challenge and have been in week 6 for about 4 weeks now. Maybe this will help π Thanks

@Juicebox.mom, You can do it! π
-Mark
Gotta get the pushup basics down first, but then I’m totally there!
Perhaps I need to get in on the pushup challenge I’ve been reading about everywhere!

@eatingbender, sounds good! π
-Mark
Looks good to me! I love all variations of push ups!

@The Fitness Diva, Thanks for the feedback!

More pushups! NO! Just kidding π I am repeating week 5 of the push up challenge. Some days when I get to the final max my arms are burning so bad, I wanna cry. I am going to finish it and push ups will be a part of my workout for life. I can see and feel the changes in my upper body. I need the strength to pick up the kiddos π
——————————–
@Annette, Pushups are nice because you can drop and o them anytime! π
-Mark
thanks for visiting my blog. i’ll be back here. i’m again starting on my weight loss “something”..not diet, but making better choices with eating and regular exercise.
and sure i will give this push a try…can’t do the other one.
————————————-
@Natural, Good job!
-Mark
I’ve got a couple months of pushups in me b/f my tummy gets too big. Maybe I can make it to 5 on the ladder?
——————————
@Tyne, Of course do it carefully. π
-Mark
Nah, these look HARD.
I am sticking with regular pushups. π
Great idea! I’m so weak with the pushups (can do about 10 with proper form), but this will definitely spice things up!
I gave it a try-but didn’t get very far.
————————
@Tipper, Good effort ! π
-Mark
Pushups don’t agree with me. I’ll break the silance when they do
Ok, I can do 3 sets of reg. pushups, now I have to make them harder? Yikes
I dont think I could do that
I am still working on pushups. My arms are pretty weak right now! π
I was thinking I could go from UP to down rather than down to up and just one time to start with. I’ll let you know how that goes.
I don’t think I’ve done 10 push-ups since the President’s Fitness thing we did back in the covered wagon days before television was invented.
This sounds brutal π I’m definitely up for the challenge though.
—————————-
@Good for you! π
-Mark
Oh, no, push ups! I have noodle arms. I get up and stay stuck as I stare at the mat, knowing that this isn’t going to end well. Sigh But I’ll try…
————————
@Anya, Good job! π
-Mark
If you have a back problem, what is the best way to do push-ups? I have a problem in my wrists that’s preventing me from doing it too, any suggestions?
I usually do 60 push-ups a day. Push-ups are wonderful for toning up your triceps and your core muscles. Tomorrow, I will take the challenge and do 110 pushups. Looking forward to the challenge! π
————————————
@Talli van Sunder, DPT, Wow 60 a day! That is fantastic!
-Mark
Nothing makes me feel stronger than pushups! Thank you for this segment! I’m always looking for new ways to do them!
Push-up seems to be the easiest to do and does not need any extra equipment. But it’s tiring though
I hate push ups! Oh, I thought this was the stretching post. I like push ups! The hardest one I’ve done is where you lie flat on your stomach with your arms straight out forward, and just lift yourself up by pushing with your palms and tightening your core. I did this before I even knew I had a “core!” Now it’s all the rage. Yeah, I like push ups!

I’m really good at doing push ups correctly, however, I have injured my right shoulder. It’s an injury from the joint efforts of softball and being a server. It hurt so bad tonight I could hardly throw the ball from 2nd to 1st base! I can do 8-10 push ups against the wall, but I think it would hurt way too bad to do them on the floor. Any tips on shoulder strengthening exercises that would help my shoulder??
@Alison, Check out this link for some possible tips: http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/healthy/physical/injuries/268.html
My first recommendation is to seek out medical advice for the pain.
I hope it feels better soon! π
