“Maybe I will skip my work out today?” Do you ever have those days that you just don’t feel like doing anything?
I am challenged multiple days each week to stay on task…..I do a Boot Camp class at LifeTimeFitness M, W, Fr. and it is an early one, my alarm reminds at 3:30am how early it really is! On two or three other days I will usually get up at 5am. I made the choice almost three years ago, because I was sick and tired of being overweight and out of shape. I had to find a reason to get motivated and for me the motivation came from what I don’t want(pain) or what I want(pleasure)….make sense?
It has worked for me!
So how do you get motivated? First of all accountability, do it for your self, your wife, husband, kids, friends for anybody…MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWow you are really motivated. I think a lot of people come to a tipping point where they finally say I have to do this for my health. Some are lucky enough to actually like it from the start. Most need to try it for about 3 months or so to really start seeing changes in their body.

James- Absolutely….the health is key. We need to be healthy for our families, friends and self.
Thanks for the feedback!
Oh my! Just hearing about you getting up at 3:30 motivates me! I am NOT a morning person, so I’m impressed. ๐
The Boot Camp class sounds like a lot of fun, though.
up at 4am every morning too! besides being motivated by my family, my childhood trauma of being the fat girl will forever be with me…sad but true ๐
Susan- The Boot Camp is a fantastic complete body work out! Thanks for the comments!
Fitarella- Good for you…you deserve to feel great! Thanks you!
Im with Fitarella on the early rising (to work) then, if I DONT WORKOUT, I spend the rest of the day tired.
it give me the energy I need.
I’m all about working out in the morning, but 3:30? Wow is that dedication! Thanks for the motivation tips:)
Doing the early thing, which for me is getting up at 6, was the only way I could make it a habit. Morning bootcamp is SO much fun, I can’t imagine life with out it.
Mallory- I am in total agreement! ๐
As a Nurse, I see it on a daily basis what being unhealthy (obesity, smoking, etc) does to the human body.
I do it of course for my health. My biggest reminder is of the time in my life when I COULDN’T exercise.
Were you ever unable to pick up a glass of water? I was.
So I remind myself daily on how luck I am to have the ability. We only get one body, we best use it and take care of it the best way we can.
Strong One- The glass is half full indeed! Your comments are inspiring! Thanks for sharing!
I find that after a workout I am a better person for the rest of the family. It’s my only “ME” time.
@ Rachel, You have to have the “ME” time..no question!
Great tips Mark. Its unfortunate but I’ve found that most people are motivated by pain. They lose a husband, wife, best friend or girlfriend and suddenly taking care of themself becomes more important. I’m not sure why this is. I’m not a psychologist but its true. Not for everyone but for those resistance to start. What do you think Mark. What was it that got you started. How do you say day after day “I’ve got to get up at 3:30am”. Uggggg.

Thanks for the inspirational post! I keep myself motivated by never settling for my current state, even if I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. There is ALWAYS room for improvement.
What first motivated me to start working out at age 14 was, unfortunately, pain. My step-sis and kids at school had no problem calling me fat. I did it for myself, to become the person I wanted to be, and to show everyone else that I was a hard worker and could accomplish anything. Now, my workout is the highlight of my day – I love it!
@Anna, Thank you for sharing! Very good! ๐
