It is Monday morning and you are slowly going through the motions, you take your shower, get dressed, grab some breakfast, yawn maybe get the kids ready for school (if you have kids of course)and start your day….STOP!
START the day out with a bang! Let’s do some Jumping Jacks. Jumping Jacks will speed up your heart rate and improve the circulation of blood throughout your body. Improved alertness is the resulting factor from doing Jumping Jacks in the morning. They are simple, quick yet effective!
Can you do 200? You just need a few minutes in the morning….
How to Do Jumping Jacks:
1-Begin by standing with your feet together and arms at your sides. Tighten your abdominal muscles to pull your pelvis forward and take the curve out of your lower back.
2-Bend your knees and jump, moving your feet apart until they are wider than your shoulders. At the same time, raise your arms over your head. You should be on the balls of your feet.
3-Keep your knees bent while you jump again, bringing your feet together and your arms back to your sides. At the end of the movement, your weight should be on your heels.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIt sounds so easy. I put on weight during all these festive seasons…I must do something about it fast before I become a barrel shape!
I’ve been starting my day for many years by going on a run! Not so fun in the dark and cold, but I’ve upwardly mobiled myself to be able to set more reasonable starting times π
@Rosabel, You are ready! Let me know how it goes! π
@Dr.J, You are dedicated! π
Jumping jacks? I think I would scare the cats…though it might be just what I need to wake up! I usually do a stretching routine to work out all the kinks in the a.m.
I’ve already been at work for longer than I care to admit. I will give it a try tomorrow though! 200 seems like a lot to a lazy bum, but I’ll give it my all! I may just suprise myself yet.
Love jumping jacks! Yesterday rather than sprinting around my apartment I did 1,500 jumping jacks to fit in just over 10,000 steps hehe. They’re so energizing AND they keep you warm on cold days:)
Im not a jumping jacks fan. They make my flab bounce around in a not so nice way and they hurt my knees
I used to do exercises like jumping jacks all the time. However, I’ve got a bit of loose cartilage in my right knee at the moment. Until I get it removed, any kind of jumping is not a good idea. Still, it’s a great exercise!

@Missicat,The cats would probably have fun! π
@Diana,I will remind you! π
@Sagan, Great job Sagan! Yes the warmth.
@Suzie, We will come up with something that is gentler on the knees. π
@David, Of course be careful of the knees…great point! π
THANK YOU for the reminder theres no need for fancypants equipment.
just get moving! π
I always start my kickboxing class with JJ’s and they all hate me, o well I am not getting paid to be their friend!!! lol
An oldie but a greatie! Yes, that would definitely jump start anyone’s morning.
Have a great day my friend!
Ooooooh! Sounds like a good little challenge to do in the morning! I’m on it!
I could do 2!
yes! I tell myself I can do something for ME everyday before diapers, coffee, backpacks ….etc. I have stuck with 40 push ups first thing every morning. Maybe I’ll alternate each day with jumping jacks or push ups π Thanks for the Monday nudge π Mark!
Hi Mark,
I was totally with you until you said 200 π
Naw just kidding, it is true, 200 jumping jacks can be done in a few minutes and the benefits of those few minutes are huge!
Another great way to motivate people to get active – thank you π
@Miz, words of wisdom. π
@bobbi, I want to take your class! I bet it is quite the workout!
@Strong One, Thank you as always! π
@Tiegerlilly, Very good!
@POD, that is a start! π
@Annette, Fantastic…some mixture can only be good! π
@Evita, Thank you for your feedback…did you do 200? π
LOl, how about evening jumping jacks? It’s been a REALLY slow Monday and I’m just now starting to go through my morning ritual.
I’ve never started the day off with jumping jacks before but I have been trying to squeeze some exercise in before work most mornings since the new year.
So simple. Yet, it gets us moving. I love it Mark! Thanks much for the push!!
Fantastic idea Mark! I’m starting today! Thanks!
@Anya, evening will work! π
@Tom, Good for you!
@Lance, So simple indeed! π
@Rupal, Thanks!
I love jumping jacks, really, I do. I truthfully never considered just doing some (ok, I can manage 200) for a morning pick me up…I’m going to give it a go this week! It’s been a while.
I did your 200 jumping jacks Mark! Forgot about those! For those of us that work alone and mostly at a desk all day, doing jumping jacks every few hours is a great idea…beats wandering into the kitchen for another snack!
Mark, I don’t think I’ve done jumping jacks since gym class. These are definitely an outdoor exercise, since I’m sure I would slam into lamps and knick knacks (I refer to them as dust catchers) inside.
A great way to start the day with a bang!
Hey Mark! Thanks for popping by my blog while I was missing over the past two weeks. The holidays really threw me off schedule and my routine. But I’m trying to get back into the swing of things and am determined to get to my goal. Thanks for the support!
Great advice. I’ll do that as soon as I wake up tomorrow. Oh, wait, maybe I’ll brush my teeth first………………:)
