I woke up to -10 degrees in MN today….windchill -30 degrees! Yes, my friends tis the season to freeze your #SS off! So any thought of a run disappeared from my thoughts within a few quick blinks of frost through the window! Lets get back to the basics and warm up a bit! Here is my challenge this week, I would love it if you would join me in the Thaw Out Challenge, even you folks that are in warmer climates YES THAT INCLUDES YOU MIZFIT! :)…
Run in place for 3 minutes…..get the heart rate up.
1) 10 push ups…start on toes go to the knees if necessary.
2) 25 squats…get the booty down as far as you can!
3) 30 second Planks…rotate from elbows to hands
4) 15 dips…back to a chair and dip away!
5) 30 seconds of jumping jacks….try a minute if you feel ambitious!
Repeat 2-4 times and you will surely have thawed out a bit along with burning some calories!
(keep your water bottle close by!)
Remember! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up on your journey!

Thanks for the indoor workout! π
Hey Mark! I like this one. But, I will be trying this tomorrow. Promise!!!
Snowing like crazy here today! This is a great workout to do. I love how simple exercises can give us a pretty good workout! Thanks Mark!
Great idea. It was below zero last night here in Colorado Springs.
I’m a girl who loves a challenge…consider it accepted…I bet the boyfriend will join with me as well…we’re desperate to do something different. Count us in!

I am so in!
gotta stillsicktoddler and need this workout kick in the pants, Mark!
I’m guessing the “dips” don’t involve chips and salsa…do they? π
This should get my heart pumping on a cold day! I’ve decided to keep a notebook of Mark Salinas workouts to cycle through in the new year. There will never be a reason to not get a workout in!
@Miz, Hope tornado feels better soon Miz!
@DC Watts, Hmmm…maybe not. π
@cathy, Awesome! π
Good workout! Thanks Mark!
I accept the challenge! I think it’s great how just moving can make the cold suddenly seem bearable.
Well ok but will I get snacks with that π
@Rupal, So you are in? π
tfh, So true!
@Suzie, Of course! π
What a great idea, and good workout too.

@Diana, Thanks!
@suzanne, Fantastic job!
New England’s winters can be pretty tough, too, so I’m keeping this one in my gym bag for those days when I wear 2 sets of sweats just to stay warm!!
THANK YOU.
It is WAY too cold to go outside for the next 3 months. I hate Winnipeg.
@Pamela Reinsel Cotter,, good call!
@Sagan, Thank you..Winnipeg and MN are pretty similar weather wise.
I absolutely love your calisthenic workouts my friend. You always thinking on top of the proverbial box.
Great ideas.
You have the absolutely best ideas for nice, short and sweet workouts!
It’s nasty cold here in Wisconsin too! This is just what I need to get me warmed up – thanks Mark!!
Wow, it is cold where you are at. Here I am complaining when it gets below 40F. Good idea to stick to working out at home.
Although I’m going to be walking to the gym in shorts and a tank top in a couple of hours, I’ll join everyone freezing their butts off in the colder climates with a few jumping jacks π
@Strong One, I appreciate your feedback!
@Girl on Top, Thanks for the comments!
@Lance, Thanks Lance!
@Talli, Yes it is cold! π
@Marelisa, thanks for the support! π
I read that thinking about a warm place like FLORIDA can actually make you feel warmer! (80 degrees today) In case it doesn’t work, I’ll think of all you guys and send warm feelings your way π
Hey Mark! Love this, I’m in. I’ve been having a hard time getting to the gym with all the sickness in our house! Thanks for posting it!
14 in Denver two days ago…absolutely FREEZING! I hate it :(Hey, did you get my email reply? I sent from my BlackBerry last week while traveling so I’m not sure if it went through?
Hey mark! It is freezing up here in Alaska too! I love it when it snows because it warms up.
Mark, I will keep your workout handy for the next time I need to nix my outdoor workout since I too am experiencing the same MN winter. I went to a 5:30 a.m. spin class on Monday and I swear the inside of my nostrils froze between the car and the gym’s front door!
Hey, Mark how about how to release pent up tension after a a 4 1/2 drive during a snow storm, a trip that usually takes 45 minutes.
well I am in the same category as Miz because Cali might be cold but nothing like MN! lol…Mark I am so in, I wanted to find something to do at home tonight because I just found out my class tonight was canceled! I WILL POST TONIGHT ABOUT IT:)!
@Dr. J, 80?? Grrr! π
@Jolene, -14? Yikes! It shouldn’t be that cold in CO….I did NOT get the message. π
@Munchkins and Music, I imagine Alaska is a bit chilly π
@Kara at MamaSweat, Ha….it is brutal!
@chris, Oh geesh…absolutely!
@bobbi, I look forward to your updates! π
It is 4 degrees here in KC with lots of snow and an ice storm on the way. I will try your challenge and see how it goes!
Brrr cold in your neck of the woods! The workout is definetly a warm up!
Another good challenge! I’m planning on it today, even though it’s about 72 degrees today here (sorry, couldn’t help it).
Wow! Now that is COLD.
I think this will be my naptime routine for today. I needed a break from the bike! I can’t wait!
Good workout Mark. I hate the cold too but I have been forcing myself to do some outdoor bodyweight workouts over the last few weeks. I was far too reliant on the gym last year and want my workouts to be more versatile this year.
