Overcoming fear creates life-changing moments

It doesn’t matter how old you are, what shape you’re in, or where you are in life right now. You can create a better life. You can acquire the right knowledge, take steps and work towards achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself.

If you feel like you don’t have any goals and you’re just floating about aimlessly, is it time to take a good look at your life?

Where are you heading? How are you spending your days? What are your daily habits and are they serving your highest and greatest good?

Are you effortlessly scaling that mountain or hurtling down it at warp speed?

I’ve felt like this.

So, here’s what I propose. Do things that change your life. Create that bucket list right now and start working through it. Create experiences and then, well, go out and experience them. Okay, I know that sounds daunting. So, let’s break it down it to more actionable steps.

Challenging Your Self with Life Changing Experiences

One of the hardest things to do in life is to make a decision to try something new. Yes, you might fail. But, so what?

When you try something new, whether it’s a new city, a new career, or a new hobby, it’s all about admitting that you can – and should – push yourself towards greatness.

Fortunately, the sooner you start experiencing new things, the sooner you can begin to build a new life and pursue more new experiences.

Take health and fitness as a prime example of a massive life change.

For starters, beginning a life journey of exercise and healthy living helps you kick bad habits. Whether it’s quitting smoking, giving up sugar, or going carb-free, those are all life-changing habits.

You become more motivated, capable, clear-headed and, best of all, you look and feel great. I speak with utter confidence when I say that health and fitness have changed my life completely.

Reclaiming the Ability to Focus

Okay, this one is more of a process than an experience, but I really want to include it in this post. Focus is a key skill and one that not many of us possess. Nothing worth having comes easy, they say. I agree.

There was a time when I was terrified of heights. So, what did I do? Jumped out of a plane. Many times over. Skydiving has been a life changing experience for me because it’s flipped the script on structured experiences and learning to focus. It’s afforded me the opportunity for deep, sincere self-assessment.

It’s helped me assess my identity.

Studies show that when we practice self-assessment, our main concern is to figure out if our self-view is accurate. It’s the chance to learn just who you are. Whether you’ve spent your life up to now as a wallflower, or the one who’s known to throw the towel in early, it’s time to reclaim your focus. Skydiving has allowed me not only to overcome a fear of heights but to actively focus on letting go of control and face my fears.

Ready to Create Life-Changing Experiences for Yourself?

1. Seek Moments of Magic

You can make your life more rewarding and exciting by seeking out moments of magic. Whether it’s a dream vacation, a bucket-list extreme activity or a whole new career – go out there and create moments you will remember forever and that, in some way, will alter your journey.

2. Create Moments to Transition Out of Tough Times

If you’re struggling to make a transition in any area of your life, stage a celebration or some sort of memorable event to mark the end of the phase and your start towards another.

3. Turn Conversations into Transforming Moments

Stop answering people with the routine “I’m fine.” Instead, present them with something that you’ve been mulling over.

You never know – it may just turn into the most defining life-changing experience you ever have. Whether it’s your personal trainer, your skydiving instructor or your nearest and dearest, take the time to have meaningful conversations and see just where they lead.

I’ve been lucky enough to have several life-changing, defining moments. From my daughter’s health journey to my own fitness changes, and overcoming my fears, life never gets stagnant.

Now, I’m mulling over what life-changing experience I can go out and create next. I am on a constant journey. Do you have a “live in the now” bucket list you’re working on?
