Never stop evolving and serving yourself and the community at large

One lesson that mentors often will highlight, is that no matter how successful you may be, learning and growth should never stop.

Whether you’re a manager, a team leader, or you rock whatever it is you do, there are always ways for you to improve. Not only does evolution – emotionally, mentally, and physically – help improve every facet of your life, it keeps things interesting.

I believe Gandhi said we should learn as if we were to live forever. That’s because we, as human beings, are not meant to stop learning and growing. After all, part of finding and sustaining happiness is opening ourselves up to new things.

I know that life happens. We get stressed. We’re overwhelmed by responsibilities. And, as we continue to spin on that hamster wheel, we De-prioritize our own intellectual and emotional growth. I say, stop that right now!

It’s Time for an Evolutionary Rebirth

Changing and evolving are difficult. In fact, they’re so difficult that doing so, or even just planning to do so, can drum up all sorts of unpleasant, uncomfortable feelings.

Too many people think these uncomfortable feelings are signs not to proceed, and they stop, and so does their progress.

Grant Cardone, in his book titled, The 10x Rule wrote that maintaining an average life takes just as much energy as developing an extraordinary life. I agree. It is so much more exhausting not to work than it is to actually work. What I am saying is that it takes a great deal more energy to sit with internal conflict and stagnation than it does to continue evolving as a person.

Sure, changing your negative behaviors may seem like more work, but in the long run, it saves you time, energy, and money than if you never took the plunge to evolve.

Evolving into a better version of yourself allows you to be more energized, creative, fulfilled, and focused. Shedding those old, weighty habits that held you back allows you to experience the deepest possible fulfillment.

Much research indicates that we do have the capacity for self-evolution – of our mental capacities, personality, relationships, and actions. It’s all based on conscious intent, or that choice to never stop evolving.

Think of it as shaping your being as an art form. Just the way an artist develops evolves and creates, so you can make your conscious being a true work of art.

In today’s highly interdependent, interconnected world, people are experiencing a new level of intent: to evolve capacities that support their well-being and service to a common good. It is both a spiritual and psychological shift. As the Dalai Lama put it, it is the full blossoming of human values that is necessary for the greater good of all.

So, how can you start your evolutionary rebirth

4 Ways to Kick-Start Your Own Evolution
  1. Surround Yourself with Achievers
You’ve probably heard that we become who we hang around with, so why not use this to your benefit? Find people who are learning and growing and share your life with them. As they accomplish and experience new things, it will inspire you to do the same.
  1. Embrace Mistakes
Making mistakes is a great way to innovate and create new things. Embrace failure as learning opportunities and use those lessons to move in the right direction. Once you can accept your mistakes, you can apply your new knowledge to future circumstances.
  1. Take Time to Reflect
Taking time out to reflect on your evolution is important, as it gives you the chance to take a good look and what is and isn’t working. In turn, you can mold your new way of working to encourage growth.
  1. Create Something
Whenever I’m in doubt, I create something. There are times when our minds are burnt out on taking in new information, and we need to create our own works of art to express what we’ve learned. Whether it’s writing a novel, creating a brand-new exercise plan, journaling, or even ticking something off your bucket list, make it count.

I could never stop being interested in learning. It’s something we, as humans, need to fall in love with, since one thing is for sure, change is constant. The more we learn, the more we can grow, and the more we grow, the better able we are to serve our higher good, others, and our communities.
