Good morning! Each day I think it is important to get the body moving early with some type of quick movement. I find myself energized, excited and ready to go! Last week we started our day with Jumping Jacks…. some of you mentioned that a lower impact exercise would be a bit easier on the legs. How about some squats?
Let’s do it!
8 slow Squats (press into heels, back straight, squat down low)
8 fast Squat pulses (short range of motion in the bottom squat position)
8 slow Squats slow
8 Fast Squat pulses
8 slow Squats
8 fast Squat pulses
4 slow Squats slow
4 Fast Squat pulses

Remember to watch that knee placement! You’ll kill your knees if you overextend them. And if you have bad knees already like I do, well, it isn’t pretty.

I need to try more quick (rather than languid) morning movements. I don’t think adding chair pose to my sun salutations quite counts but it’s a step in the right direction!

Why is it that toddlers can seem to squat forever and many adults just do not feel they have what it takes? One reason is kids do not imagine what is impossible whereas adults are prone to making excuses.
How ’bout if I squat while sitting in my chair at work?

i went a bit squat crazy this weekend and man were my thighs burning on my walk today!

My Pilates instructor was just showing me this morning how to start doing squat by using a chair (so as to use the correct muscles). I haven’t actually tried it, but I know that a normal squat is impossible for me… at over 300 pounds my knees can’t support me. I did some 150 pounds leg presses today and that seemed to me to be very similar to squats. What do you think?

I love squats, too, and I love that I’ve been doing them throughout my pregnancy. Even though I haven’t added more weight to the bar, I have added more weight to me, so they continue to challenge me!
Oh yes indeed squats are awesome. When I used to do them (I wish I did not have to use the word “used to” at the present time) my leg muscles felt amazing!!!
It is indeed one of the best exercises for the big leg muscles and I cannot wait to start them back up again.
